Surveys Lithographs and Mixed Media by L.A.-Based Artist and Musician

LOS ANGELES- A collection of limited edition lithographs by celebrated illustrator and musician Kristian Hoffman will be on public display for the first time in "The Graphic Works of Kristian Hoffman," a survey of the L.A.-based artist's visual works on paper opening February 27 at Gallery 4016, 4016 Santa Monica Boulevard in Silverlake.

Long known as a creative force in music, Hoffman attended Cal Arts in the 70's and has continually balanced his creative work in music with a steady production of book illustrations and other works in the graphic arts. His work as an illustrator has graced a diverse collection of books including a volume of poems by James Sclavunos, "Two Blocks East of Vine" by Iris Berry, Lydia Lunch's volume, "Incriminating Evidence," and Pleasant German's "Princess of Hollywood."

Hoffman's visual style reflects his rejection of many of the imperatives that have dominated contemporary art and his embrace of the principles of visual harmony and workmanship. His style is unapolagetically elegant.

A seminal figure in the New York and Los Angeles alternative musical communities, singer/songwriter Hoffman founded The Mumps in the 70's with the late Lance Loud, fronted CBGB's favorites, The Swinging Madisons, and more recently has released the solo albums "Earthquake Weather" and the critically lauded "Kristian Hoffman &" which included Rufus Wainwright, Maria McKee, Earle Mankey, That Dog's Anna Waronker and Sparks' Russell Mael.

"The Graphic Works of Kristian Hoffman" is a Presentation of BoOGA Productions. Gallery hours are 9:00 am to 5 pm Mon through Saturday and by appointment.
